The only thing I know is that if the USPS tried the same stunt, there is no way in Hades I'd ever bank there! Our postal service is pretty good at getting the mail here and there, but if you saw the competence level of the general counter help, well, nobody half-sane or better would turn over their money!

I've had exactly the opposite experience as to the competence level of the general counter help. I don't think one can generalize so broadly.

Strangely, the Post Office has offered banking facilities for the past few years, with pin terminals to allow cash withdrawals, and the ability to pay in money to any bank account, not just a post office one. This service wasn't enough to prevent the closure of many small post offices, so what's going to be the secret of the new one?
