A superb post, which just about says it all.Just about the only reason McCain/Palin are close to Obama in the polls is that Obama is black.
You know what else is white privilege? When someone says that someone they work for says they "won't vote for a black man" and other white women tell her that that's okay, keep working for her, you can't change their minds anyway.
Well, you can. But first you have to stop feeling this is okay in your bones, and start feeling disgust. Disgust with what? You are yourself a good place to start.

I expect that race plays some part in the polls, disbelieving that given the current state of the world would be silly.
But I can't agree that it's the only factor involved. It is a representative democracy after all, and people are intended to vote for those they think to be most like themselves.
Obama is intelligent. That's his problem, that and being unable to relate to those of lesser intelligence in a way they can understand.
I think his race is a secondary factor. I think that too many Americans fear what they don't understand and they don't have a clue what Obama is on about, and would fear him as much or more if he was a white man.
If they understood what he's about, I expect that many of those for whom race is important would find reasons to look beyond it.
I think that the authoritarian in Palin is something that a lot of Americans can relate to because they want things their way and devil take the hindmost.
It's a sad situation, one that I think must grow even worse before the balance tips.

It would be nice if I was wrong, but frankly most people just want a fucking pony. If he was white and offered them a diminuitive equine, they'd laugh and go get a limping donkey from McCain.
That's all true, boots. It's somewhat hard to judge because Clinton would have promised them a pony too. But I think that's down the list. Top of it is that "Obama is intelligent. That's his problem" is another way of saying his problem is that he's an uppity nigger.
I truly believe that being intelligent would not be a drawback for a white man. It never hurt the Big Dog. He was a fucking Rhodes scholar and they couldn't touch him on that.

It doesn't matter a lot. Most of us niggers tend to be uppity even if our skins are white, it comes from getting fed up; Obama isn't a nigger anyway, he's just a man with a black skin. Oreobama so to speak.
Beyond that, why the fuck hasn't Pakistan called Bush on his acts of warfare against them?
Sometimes I look at the political shit and think fucksake, we'll be lucky if the planet isn't a cinder by election day.
