Batshit

Absolutely batshit.

The same crazy fucking nonsense that got Iraq battered. Suddenly, Iran is the new Iraq.

And when we've destroyed Iran, Syria's next.

Then who?

You edit your post to cancel my comment about how you have changed your tune about Ahmadinejad, fucking priceless!!

Just goes to show what a fragile an ego you have.

Then who?

Whoever might stand between the tankers and the oil fields. Whoever might sell to China but not to Europe. Whoever can be accused of supporting turrurrism. And don't think our next Democratic president will change anything.

Reminds me of what they said about the slavery issue way back when. Being intertwined with the Middle East, we have a tiger by the ears and daren't let go.

anonymous, I don't think I did. I posted it to the wrong blog though and had to move it. Did you comment on the other blog? If not, then I haven't touched your comment. You're free to speak here, however witlessly, so long as you don't attack other commenters in a really boring way.

Don, you seem to have changed your tune. Don't you mean to say "whomever we can bring democracy to next"?

I've checked, anonymous. The comment is still there, shining out as a beacon of witless in a sea of clue.

No, I don't. However it's spun, and I don't remember or care to remember who spun it as "bringing democracy", that was never the aim as I saw it. Rather we supposedly meant to create a space for democracy to find roots and grow. However, the blind and violent idiocy of the people in that part of the world hasn't even allowed for the first step, which would be agreement on some sort of provisional constitution. Seems they'd rather divide up into the very tribal / religious / political factions many people who were ignored warned they would. For my part, I'm simply too optimistic, or used to be. Just don't believe for a minute this "anti-war" posturing by the Democrats signals any possibility of change. Our two parties take slightly different paths, but they lead to the same end of the road. You, of course, think this whole charade was to make someone rich via destruction of the country. I still see no believable cui bono for this theory, but considering the universality of human idiocy I certainly don't reject the idea out of hand.

OMG. Blame the victim, why don't you? Your analysis of the Iraqis is wrong (and racist), but I don't have the time to discuss it with you.

You see no cui bono? Are you kidding? Did you not notice that your government has spent billions of your money on Iraq? That hasn't gone to Iraqis, dude.

Some suggest that the plan was to create a disaster so that the public sphere could be privatised. It's happened elsewhere (Chile is often held up as a premier example). As the Sex Pistols said, where there's chaos, there'll always be cash.

And that public sphere very much includes oil. It's not planned for it to remain publically owned, you know.

I'm being dismissive for economy. Of course the Iraqis are no more to blame than would any other human beings. But your chorus of deliberate destruction still sounds insane to me, so I did quick search. Please don't tell me this guy has it anything like right, for nearly every part of this particular screed is, well, absolutely batshit.

Actually, it's not absolutely batshit, but a clever intermixing of fact and sensationalism such as has been used by every liar with an agenda since the beginning. The Bushes' propoganda is no less obfuscating, don't get me wrong.

I think it's very plausible. Naomi Wolf has a similar theory. It's in keeping with policy in other places.

Dude, you are left with something of a choice: believe that all the very smart guys who help run an administration were stupid; or believe they were bad. You are choosing stupid. I'm on the fence, but I don't count bad out.
