On war

Winning? Not hardly. In my view, one of the best pieces on the Iraq war, written by men who know.

Political reconciliation in Iraq will occur ... on Iraqi terms when the reality on the battlefield is congruent with that in the political sphere. There will ... be winners and losers. The choice we have left is to decide which side we will take. Trying to please every party in the conflict ... will only ensure we are hated by all in the long run.

Apparently, choosing a side and supporting the dictator who rules from that side is the only way to go. Bush's alleged vision of establishing something democratic was either a fool's idealistic fantasy or a cynical bid to gain support from idealistic fools like me.
